PRESENT IS A GIFT


The past is a treasure, learn from it
The future is a surprise, don’t think about it
The present is what you have, cherish it.

A lot has happened since I last wrote. I injured my foot, missed my exams and started a series of short stories, inspired by my dreams. They were those types of dreams which feel completely realistic, but you know that they will never actually become reality so, every night before sleep, you hope you get that dream again. You start living your fantasised life in your dreams.
Also, this academic year went by in a flash. Even personally, this was a very productive year for me, I shifted schools, settled in the new school and made amazing friends. I also learnt a lot, the importance and value of friendships and true friends, living through the tough times with a smile on your face and enjoying and cherishing the good times.
It seems hard to believe that from the end of February itself, we’ll be tenth graders. “You have boards this year”, “This is the year it all goes down”, “Just get good marks in boards” is what we’ll hear throughout the year now. Not only does the society pressurize students, some students spend the whole year with the chip named “Board” resting on their shoulders.
Frankly. I too am scared. Not by the boards but how, now not knowing is not going to work. When people asked me, what I was deciding on taking, my response was, “ I don’t know yet, I still have a few years to think about it.” Well now those years are close to over, and I will soon have to take major decisions about my life, and I am scared about making the wrong choice.
And the thought of leaving my current group of friends and  starting fresh in a new place sends shivers through my body.

But, living in the present pondering about what the future holds, is gonna change nothing. So, i’m going to live in the present and worry about making the right choice when the time comes.

    Very sensible post Jiya! However, here are my two cents. While you are absolutely right when you say that present is a gift and should be cherished, just stopping to think about future may not be the most prudent thing to do in present. I would say, don't think about aspects of future you can't control but do plan a bit about your future in the present. Don't overthink it for sure :)
