EXPECTATIONS

EXPECTATIONS.

It can be your parents expecting you to lead a good life.
It can be your teachers expecting you to do well in school.
It can be your friends expecting you to stay with them.

Or, it can be you expecting support and love from your parents.
It can be you expecting patience and hope from your teachers.
It can be you expecting comfort and happiness from your friends.
The list never ends. In fact the world might come to a stop if people stopped expecting. Because it is the passion, the desire to meet the expectations that urge you to do more.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Expectations are just like drugs.
They effect the people at the two ends of the spectrum. The generating end and the receiving end.
The sellers with good intentions, like people at the chemists and doctors, are the people who have expectations for the benefit of their customers. And these customers, are benefited from this expectation. When they are able to fulfil these, it makes people at both the ends happy.
Whereas, those customers, buying from sellers who have only bad intentions at heart, like the drug dealers, destroy them. Not only does it bring destruction on the buyers side but the inability of fulfilling the expectations destroys the sellers too.
Controlled dosage inspires you, pushes you to do more, makes you achieve more.
Excessive dosages, put you on a high for sometime, makes you feel important, even worthy, that people expect things from you. But as these expectations grow, they crush you.
So, in conclusion, expectations are a good thing, but expecting too much brings destruction on both the ends.

It is not the fear of having too many expectations on your shoulders, but it is the fear of somehow not fulfilling them.

The prospect of failing loved ones, instils nervousness and anxiety. At times I get too scared I might do something wrong or that I might not achieve as big as expected.
But these expectations are possibly the only thing driving me towards the goal. The image of my loved ones being proud and happy for me wills me to put in my everything and give it a shot.
I don't know what might come of it, but knowing that my friends and family are there to support me, no matter what, I am ready to give it my one hundred percent. But, still the questions of What If? linger in the back of my mind.
